The City of Apopka announced on April 7 that it will recognize April 25 and April 26, 2026, as Art and Foliage Festival Weekend. The proclamation was made by Mayor Bryan Nelson in honor of the upcoming Apopka Art and Foliage Festival.

The festival is significant to the community as it highlights Apopka’s reputation as the “Indoor Foliage Capital of the World” and brings together residents and visitors for family-oriented entertainment. The event has been organized for many years by the Apopka Woman’s Club, which was founded 69 years ago.

According to the proclamation, “the City of Apopka has long been known as the ‘Indoor Foliage Capital of the World.’ The Apopka Woman’s Club has expanded the foliage displays to attract a broader range of foliage enthusiasts, making the Apopka Art and Foliage Festival one of the premier festivals in Central Florida.” Kit Land Nelson Park will serve as this year’s venue, providing a scenic setting for thousands expected to attend.

Mayor Nelson said in his official statement: “Now, Therefore, I, Bryan Nelson, Mayor of the City of Apopka, Florida, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the City of Apopka, do hereby proclaim April 25 and April 26, 2026, as: Art and Foliage Festival Weekend.”

He also encouraged community participation: “I encourage the citizens of our community to invite and welcome their many friends from neighboring cities to come and join the fun at the 2026 Apopka Art and Foliage Festival on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday, April 26.” Nelson commended both city council members and citizens for supporting local events such as this festival.

A photo accompanying this announcement shows members of both city leadership and representatives from the Woman’s Club holding up a copy of this proclamation during an earlier meeting.
