The City of Apopka held its Oath of Office Ceremony for Mayor Nick Nesta and Commissioners Sam Ruth, Diane Velazquez, and Yesenia Baron on April 28.
The event marked the official start of new terms for the city’s leadership. The ceremony included participation from local officials and community members.
News 6 Traffic Anchor Trooper Steve Montiero served as the emcee. Apopka Firefighter Jeremias Williams performed the National Anthem, while Police Chief Lovetta Quinn-Henry delivered the invocation. After taking their oaths, the Mayor and Commissioners joined in a cake cutting and enjoyed refreshments with attendees.
Organizers thanked Apopka Florist for providing floral centerpieces at the event. The ceremony concluded with acknowledgments to all participants who contributed to marking this civic occasion.
The new terms are expected to bring continued service from city officials as they begin their responsibilities following this formal swearing-in.
