Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center ranked as the third largest nursing home in Orange County for the first quarter of 2026, a position it shared with three other facilities, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center, Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park, and Aviata at Colonial Lakes also matched this ranking.
Records reveal that Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center offered 180 beds, which is 53 more than the Orange County average for that period. The facility had a daily average of 159.7 residents in the first quarter of 2026.
The CMS assigned the center an overall rating of 2 out of 5, which is below the Florida average rating of 3.3 for nursing homes.
For the quarter, Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center reported the highest number of beds in Orange County at 391, while Health Central Park followed with 218 beds.
Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center had incurred a total of $3,282 in fines and faced one penalty by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
There were 24 for-profit nursing homes in Orange County, Florida, at that time.
According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the nation’s older adult population is rising as numbers among younger demographics decrease. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older rose by 13%, while people under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past 100 years, the older adult population in the U.S. increased significantly, growing from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A 2021 study found that nearly 50% of older Americans, or about 28 million individuals, will likely need long-term services or support. The research also projects that more than a third could require nursing home care during their lifetimes.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
