The No. 12 University of Central Florida rowing team will compete in the NCAA Championships at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia, according to a May 28 announcement from the university.
This marks the second consecutive year that UCF has qualified for the championship, which is the first time since the 2018-19 seasons that the program has made back-to-back appearances. Last year, all Knights boats advanced to the C finals for the first time in program history and finished with a record-high overall placement of 15th. The First Four Plus boat also achieved a program-best finish by placing 13th.
Competition begins Friday, May 29, with heat races starting at 10:00 a.m. The First Eight Plus crew holds the No. 10 seed and will race in Heat Two against Boston, Texas (No. 3), California (No. 8), and Ohio State (No. 14) from lane two. The Second Eight Plus crew is seeded No. 17 and will compete at 10:36 a.m., drawing Heat One alongside Syracuse (No.11), Stanford (No.2), Tennessee (No.1), and Ohio State from lane one.
UCF’s highest-seeded entry is its First Four Plus boat at No.8, which closes out racing in Heat One against Columbia (No.17), Brown (No.9), Stanford (No.2), and Miami (No.13) from lane four at 11:24 a.m.
Each crew’s performance during these heats will determine advancement to either A/B or C/D semifinals scheduled for Saturday morning beginning at 8:12 a.m., with final races set to begin later that day at approximately 11:00 a.m.
