During the first quarter of 2026, the Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center ranked as Orange County’s largest nursing home, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The facility reported 391 available beds, which is 264 more than Orange County’s average for the first quarter of 2026. The center served an average of 365.3 residents in that timeframe.

The CMS assigned Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 1 out of 5, considerably lower than Florida’s nursing home average rating of 3.3.

Health Central Park was the county’s second largest nursing home with 218 beds. Placing third were Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center|Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park|Aviata at Colonial Lakes|Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, each with 180 beds available.

Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center had incurred one fine totaling $65,951 and had one penalty during the first quarter of 2026.

Orange County, Florida, had a total of 11 non-profit nursing homes.

According to U.S. Census Bureau estimates, the growth of the nation’s older adult population continues while the number of younger residents falls. Americans age 65 and above increased by 13% from 2020 to 2024, as the population under age 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the past century, the U.S. older population expanded greatly, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A 2021 study found that about half of this group, approximately 28 million people, could need long-term services and assistance. The study also forecasts that more than one-third may ultimately need nursing home support.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
