Rep. Cory Mills, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 7th district since 2023, recently posted several messages on his official social media account addressing topics ranging from the loss of a local police officer to national commemorations.
On September 16, 2025, Mills expressed condolences following the death of Edgewater Police Officer David Jewell. In his post, he stated: “I am heartbroken over the tragic loss of Edgewater Police Officer David Jewell, a true hero from Florida’s 7th District. He was tragically assassinated off-duty, leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of selfless service. My deepest condolences to his wife, colleagues,” (September 16, 2025).
The following day marked Constitution Day in the United States. On September 17, 2025, Mills recognized the anniversary with a message reflecting on his service and commitment to American principles: “On September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution was signed, laying the foundation for our nation’s government. It’s been an honor to uphold and defend that Constitution, fight for limited government, and protect our freedoms, both as a serviceman and now as a proud member of” (September 17, 2025).
On September 18, Mills acknowledged another significant date by celebrating the birthday of the U.S. Air Force: “Happy 78th Birthday to the U.S. Air Force! As an Army veteran, I’m proud to celebrate the incredible airpower and excellence of our Air Force.
Your dedication to defending our skies and pushing the limits of innovation is truly inspiring. Thank you for your service…” (September 18, 2025).
Cory Mills has served in Congress since replacing Stephanie Murphy in Florida’s 7th district in January 2023. Born in Winter Haven in 1980 and currently residing in New Smyrna Beach at age forty-two, Mills brings experience as both an Army veteran and legislator.
