Rep. Cory Mills, who represents Florida’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and other national issues in a series of posts published between October 1 and October 2, 2025.
On October 1, Mills criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer regarding immigration policy and the government shutdown. He stated, “Chuck Schumer once admitted rewarding illegal aliens was a disaster. Now he’s shut down the government demanding we do exactly that.”
The following day, Mills extended greetings to those observing Yom Kippur. In his post dated October 2, he wrote, “Wishing all who are observing Yom Kippur a meaningful day of reflection and peace. May this sacred time bring clarity, renewal, and hope.”
Later on October 2, Mills addressed the effects of what he termed the “Democrat shutdown,” highlighting its impact on military personnel and federal workers. He posted: “Day 2 of the Democrat shutdown: 2 million service members are working without pay. 333,000 civilians furloughed. Veterans’ care, WIC, telehealth, Coast Guard, TSA, and Border Patrol pay all on the line. The Senate could reopen the government in 5 minutes with a CLEAN funding”
Cory Mills has served as U.S. Representative for Florida’s 7th District since replacing Stephanie Murphy in 2023. Born in Winter Haven in 1980 and currently residing in New Smyrna Beach at age 42, Mills has been active in public commentary during his tenure.
