Rep. Cory Mills, who represents Florida’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and its impacts on military readiness and the American economy.
On October 3, 2025, Mills stated, “Even during this Democrat shutdown, the military is stepping up to support our troops and their families. Readiness doesn’t take a break — and neither should Congress. House Republicans are fighting to fund our military and end this crisis. Check it out here:”
Two days later, on October 4, 2025, Mills continued his criticism of Democratic leadership by writing, “Heading into another week of the Schumer shutdown. He’s a scared career politician clinging to power, willing to sacrifice our troops, veterans, TSA, women, infants, & children on WIC just to protect his seat. Americans are paying the price for Dem obstruction.”
By October 6, 2025, Mills addressed the economic consequences of the prolonged shutdown: “Crippling Economic Losses: Each week the shutdown extends will wipe out an estimated $15 billion in U.S. GDP. A monthlong shutdown would mean 43,000 more unemployed Americans.”
Cory Mills has represented Florida’s 7th District since replacing Stephanie Murphy in 2023 and currently resides in New Smyrna Beach. Born in Winter Haven in 1980 and now age 42, he continues to voice concerns about federal spending priorities amid partisan disputes over government funding.
