Rep. Cory Mills, who represents Florida’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media account to address the ongoing government shutdown and its potential impact on Americans.
On September 30, 2025, Mills posted: “A government shutdown hurts real people. Democrats hate Trump so much they’re willing to let our troops go unpaid, veterans face delays, firefighters be furloughed, and food aid for Florida’s moms & kids be cut.
They’d even risk small business loans, FEMA disaster relief, and”.
Early the next morning on October 1, he wrote: “Senate Democrats just failed to pass a CR — now Americans face a shutdown because leadership put politics ahead of people. House Republicans did our job, the Senate must be held accountable for this pain to working families, our troops, veterans and first responders.”
Later that day on October 1, Mills addressed constituents directly: “During this shutdown, my team and I are still working for you.
Constituent services and casework remain a top priority. While some responses may be delayed due to agency closures, we will revisit any unresolved cases as soon as the government reopens.
We’ve got your back.”
Cory Mills has represented Florida’s 7th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Stephanie Murphy. He was born in Winter Haven in 1980 and currently resides in New Smyrna Beach.
