Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs ranked as Seminole County’s largest nursing home during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows.

The facility offered 228 beds, which is 103 more than the county average for that period. On average, 217.4 residents received care at the center each day in the first quarter of 2026.

The CMS gave Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs an overall rating of 2 out of 5, below the 3.3 average for Florida nursing homes.

Solaris Healthcare Forest Lake followed as the second largest nursing home in Seminole County, providing 222 available beds. In third place, Longwood Health and Rehabilitation Center|Aviata at Lake Mary|Island Lake Center reported 120 available beds.

By the first quarter of 2026, Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs had incurred one fine totaling $83,493 and faced two penalties.

There were seven for-profit nursing homes operating in Seminole County, Florida at the time.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the older adult population in the United States is growing as younger groups decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older increased by 13%, while the number of people under 18 decreased by 1.7%. Over the last century, the country’s older adult population has escalated from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million in 2024.

A 2021 study found almost half of adults in this age group, nearly 28 million people, could need long-term services and support. The research also projects that more than a third may eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education group. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
