Sierra Humphreys, second baseman for the University of Central Florida softball team, was named D1Softball National Player of the Week following her recent performances against Iowa State, according to a May 5 announcement.
The recognition marks the first national honor in Humphreys’ career and follows her earlier selection as Big 12 Conference Player of the Week on April 8. Her achievements highlight her impact as one of UCF’s leading offensive players this season.
Humphreys posted a .700 batting average over three games against Iowa State, going 7-for-10 with two home runs—including her first career grand slam—one double, seven runs batted in, five runs scored, and two walks. She began the series by hitting a grand slam in the first inning to help secure an early lead in UCF’s eventual win. Over the weekend she continued her strong performance with multiple hits and at least one run scored in each game. Her .700 average made her one of only two players in the Big 12 Conference that week to reach at least .700 across ten or more at-bats.
UCF Athletics describes itself as a member of the Big 12 Conference with a mission “to positively transform the lives of our students academically, athletically, and personally through a nationally competitive intercollegiate athletics program that enhances the reputation and visibility of the University.” The organization aims to represent both UCF and its community “with distinction on the national stage as ‘Orlando’s Hometown Team.'”
The recognition for Humphreys reflects both individual achievement and broader team success during this spring campaign. Observers will be watching how she continues to contribute as UCF advances through its season.
