Seminole State College of Florida recently issued the following announcement.
Seminole State College of Florida’s Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Information Management (BIM) has been awarded accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP), the only global organization offering specialized business accreditation for all degree levels.
ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business degrees and programs offered through Seminole State College meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
"We are humbled and proud to receive this program recognition and business accreditation from ACBSP," said Dr. Bill Dafnis, program manager for the BIM program at Seminole State. "This affirms to our students, community and employers that our BIM program provides an exceptional academic foundation for career readiness and advancement."
Based on the Baldridge Education Criteria for Performance Excellence, ACBSP accreditation evaluates aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials and educational support to determine whether the business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and demonstrate continuous quality improvement.
"Seminole State College of Florida has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process," said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Dr. Steve Parscale. "This accreditation is evidence that Seminole State is committed to providing the highest quality business education for their students."
Seminole State has the third largest business program in Central Florida, with nearly 4,000 annual enrollments. The curriculum was developed with input from a program advisory board comprising professionals from the regional business community and economic development agencies. The program also boasts a proven track record of success with 85% of BIM graduates employed, while 80% are employed full-time with an average salary of $48,756, according to Florida College System data.
