Seminole State College issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.
Seminole State Women's Golf sent five golfers to the Sea Best Jacksonville Classic, only one (Minami Kudo) has more than a few competitive rounds as a college student-athlete. The results showed in a very talented 54-hole tournament. SSC finished sixth out of eight teams, shooting 306, 305 and 299 for the three rounds.
"We are fine," state Coach Teno. "We played some really good golf, then we had a few mental lapses here and there which cost us some strokes. Not sure what our ladies were thinking on 18 (hole) and we took a few big scores. But I like this team and I think a tournament like this will help us in the spring."
The Raiders' starting five finished:
Ayami Takahashi (Fr.) - T34 (78, 78, 73)
Grace Aromando (So.) - T22 (75, 78, 73)
Minami Kudo (So.) - T22 (74, 79, 73)
Grace Connelly (So.) - 44th (79, 80 84)
Banthita Phoncharatkun (aka "Pearl") (Fr.) - 20th (+9, 78, 71, 76) (right)
