Seminole State’s career fair connects students and employers

Meeting

Seminole State College of Florida recently issued the following announcement.

It has been two years since the Career Center has been able to host their Spring Career Fair. This event creates a favorable circumstance for our current and soon to graduate students to engage in career opportunities.

“Seminole State is committed to helping students explore and engage with career options through a variety of programming,” Career Center Assistant Director Lisette Guillen-Dolby said, “The 2022 Spring Career Fair is an important program that gives students the chance to network directly with employers from a variety of industries and investigate internships, jobs and perhaps, even job shadow experiences. There will be up to 50 employers participating with a wide array of career options right here in the Central Florida community.”

With companies ranging from Walt Disney World Resort to Wharton-Smith, Inc., Raiders had a wealth of opportunities to meet, network and discuss potential options for themselves. Just a week prior to the Spring Career Fair, the Career Center held an online workshop to fully equip students with the tools they would use when meeting all the attending companies. The workshop’s materials included resume writing, following up after their initial meet with the companies, as well as many other professional skills.

Tom Murphy, vice president in Commercial for Wharton-Smith, Inc., said, “We have been extremely fortunate to have a close working relationship with Seminole State and its students. Over the years we been able to offer countless internships to Seminole State students and many have joined us as full-time members of our team. The quality of students that Seminole State is educating is second to none and we are excited to continue to build Florida together!”

Walt Disney World Resort also returned to the career fair, which brought excitement to students. Niksa Perpignand a Walt Disney Resort recruiter said, “Our Walt Disney World Resort recruiters are excited to return to the Seminole State College campus to share opportunities at the heart of the magic across our parks and resorts. We look forward to meeting future magic makers and exploring the endless possibilities available to them at Disney!”

The career fair is a 10-year running event that is filled with opportunities for students looking for full-time and part-time employment, and internship opportunities during or after their educational career here at Seminole State. This successful event was sure to ignite more passion in our students and showcase their talents and experience to companies. With a wide range of employers looking for talent, to our partnering universities offering transfer options to our soon-to-be graduates, we look forward to seeing how far our Raiders Go!
