Cross Country Finishes Regular Season at USF

The Raider Men's and Women's Cross Country Team ran at USF on Friday. This is the first time USF hosted a meet since before the pandemic and it is the first time that Seminole State has ever ran at the Bulls' event.

Coach Tucker Morgan commented after the race, "It was a mixed bag of results, we had a lot of PRs (personal records) but do to an injury, we didn't get a team score on the Women's side." Sam Henery was top finisher for SSC on the Men's side (42nd overall) with a 28:09.7 (PR). For the Ladies is was Lyra Winn who placed 51st with a time of 21:40.38. The Raiders will next run at the FCSAA/Region 8 Championships in Tallahassee on October 28. 

RAIDER NOTES:

  • The Men's Team finished 4th in the FCSAA Region VIII in 2021, there was not a full Women's team in 2021
  • During the 2019 season, the men's team finished 16th at the NJCAA National meet
  • 43 Raider Student-Athletes were named Academic All Conference for 2021-22 and 13 achieved Academic All American Status.
  • Raider Athletics has generated close to $1,000,000 in economic impact to Seminole County since 2017.

The Raider Athletics Department of Seminole State College was established in 1965 and initially led by Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Joe Sterling. Seminole State sponsors five sports all competing in the NJCAA Division I.  Both Baseball and Softball facilities are located on College Drive on the Sanford/Lake Mary Campus.
