Melville Earns AVCA First Team All-America Honors

UCF volleyball senior outside hitter McKenna Melville has been named an American Volleyball Coaches Association First Team All-America selection, becoming the first player in program history to garner the award as announced by the AVCA on Wednesday.

Melville, an Eagan, Minnesota, native, garners All-America honors for the fifth year in a row with Honorable Mention (2019-2021).

"This is an honor that every single program would like to have in their trophy case and for their student athletes," said head coach Todd Dagenais. "For the first time in the history of our volleyball program we have a first team All-American. Clearly, McKenna is one of the greatest to ever play in a UCF uniform, and in a day and age where its frequent for players to transfer for other opportunities. She made a conscious decision to stay and change the future of the volleyball program."

Melville has also earned AVCA Southeast Player of the Year, All-Region, AAC Player of the Year (unanimous), All-AAC First Team and ACC Player of the Week honors in what was another superb season. She led the Knights in a variety of categories, including total kills (573), kills per set (5.51), solo blocks (13) and total points (636.0).

Melville made it into the NCAA Top-10 kills all-time, along with breaking the all-time kills record at UCF.

"The entire program and team is very excited for her to receive this prestigious honor," added Dagenais. "She has set an example for all future Knights to chase their dreams."

The All-American had several standout performances against quality competition in 2022. Against SMU and Houston, she delivered 29 kills and 11 digs.
