Washington, D.C. — On June 14, 2024, Congressman Cory Mills voted to advance the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) out of the House. The NDAA’s primary focus is on enhancing servicemembers’ quality of life by improving housing, medical care, childcare, spouse support, Department of Defense schools, career training assistance, and increasing compensation.
“As an Army combat veteran and Representative of Florida’s 7th Congressional District who sits on the House Armed Services Committee, I understand the importance of strengthening our military. It starts by improving the quality of life for servicemembers and their families by addressing major issues impacting morale, recruitment, and retention. Our servicemembers and their families sacrifice everything to safeguard our nation and uphold the values we hold dear. I look forward to seeing the Senate take up our version of the NDAA, which includes measures like a 19.5% pay raise for junior enlisted members, improved housing conditions and allowances, enhanced access to medical care, increased funding for childcare facilities, and a variety of support programs. We must ensure a better quality of life for our troops to help strengthen the United States’ defense readiness,” said Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07).
“The geopolitical alignment of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea is spreading fear and violence, threatening the national security of the United States and the world. Our greatest weapon against them is the strength of our military and its founding principles of defending America and American interests abroad. I am proud to have voted to advance a defense bill that effectively authorizes U.S. taxpayer dollars to strengthen our military readiness while also ensuring a better quality of life for our servicemembers.”
The NDAA will encompass many of Congressman Cory Mills’ national defense priorities including investing in military lethality, properly equipping warfighters, improving service members' quality of life, implementing contracting reforms, and strengthening military readiness.
