In Washington, D.C., Congressman Cory Mills has introduced the DEI to DIE Act (H.R. 800) in an effort to formalize and legislate former President Trump's executive order that ended diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs within the federal government. The proposed bill aims to direct the Office of Management and Budget, Office of Personnel Management, and Attorney General to oversee the termination of all DEI mandates and related activities in federal operations.
Representative Mills stated, "I am proud to introduce the DEI to DIE Act, which will enact President Trump’s executive order for a comprehensive government ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives." He expressed concerns over what he described as "woke policies" that have affected government efficiency under the Biden Administration. According to Mills, these policies have had adverse effects on military readiness and educational programs.
Mills emphasized a return to merit-based hiring practices as a way to enhance performance and unity within federal institutions. "By restoring merit-based hiring and standards," he noted, "we are prioritizing performance and unity; we will restore fundamental American principles, and keep national security as our top priority."
