House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Intelligence Subcommittee Chairman Cory Mills delivered opening remarks in Washington, D.C., at a hearing scrutinizing the Biden Administration's foreign policy. Chairman Mills, from Florida’s 7th district, opened the session of the 119th Congress with critical remarks titled, “Deficient, Enfeebled, and Ineffective: The Consequences of the Biden Administration’s Far-Left Priorities on U.S. Foreign Policy.”

Mills emphasized his commitment to advancing the policies of former President Donald Trump, stating, "As we start the new Congress, I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to deliver real results for the American people by advancing President Trump’s America first policy’s and agenda."

He expressed concerns over foreign policy challenges, citing actions by adversaries such as China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran. He described these challenges as a consequence of the current administration's approach, criticizing, "While the Biden Administration was trying to figure out what pronouns to use, our adversaries grew stronger and more emboldened."

Mills specified the focus on reforming the State Department, particularly the Office of Diversity and Inclusion, which he claims has negatively affected departmental operations. He outlined that the goal is "to reorient the United States as a leader on the world stage while ensuring that taxpayer dollars are effectively used to bolster U.S. national security efforts."

He cautioned against what he termed as 'woke' policies, stating, "These policies corrupted the core mission of the State Department and we must restore unity and fundamental American principles to the Department."

Chairman Mills mentioned initiatives that he believes detracted from the department's diplomatic mission, such as DEI being a core part of promotion considerations and funding cultural events. He underlined the urgent need to restore "common sense policies and responsible leadership."

The session concluded with Mills expressing gratitude to the witnesses and anticipation for constructive discussions.
