The University of Central Florida baseball team was ranked No. 23 in the D1Baseball Top 25 poll on March 30, following a series sweep over Arizona and an impressive start to conference play.
This recognition marks the first time UCF has appeared in the national rankings this season. The team is also ranked No. 22 in the Perfect Game Top 25 poll for March 30.
UCF holds an overall record of 18-8 and leads the Big 12 Conference with an 8-1 record, its best conference start since matching that mark in 2014. The Knights have recently swept both Arizona and Oklahoma State at home and won two out of three games against preseason favorite TCU on the road. The team finished March with a record of 14-3, winning nine of their last eleven games and fourteen out of their last seventeen.
The recent sweep over Arizona concluded a stretch where UCF faced seven consecutive opponents who participated in the previous year’s NCAA Tournament, going 12-3 during that period and sweeping College World Series teams Arizona and Murray State.
This is UCF’s first top-25 ranking since March of last year when it was ranked No. 25 by Perfect Game, as well as its first appearance on a D1Baseball Top 25 poll since April of the previous year when it reached No.17.
Looking ahead, UCF will play four away games this week after spending much of March at home. The Knights are scheduled to face Penn State on Wednesday before traveling to Morgantown for a key Big 12 series against West Virginia from Friday through Sunday.
