The UCF Knights men’s tennis team will travel to Winston-Salem to compete against top-seeded Wake Forest in the NCAA Super Regional, according to a May 7 announcement. The match is scheduled for Friday at 5:00 p.m.
This matchup follows UCF’s dramatic comeback victory over Florida in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. After losing the doubles point and trailing 3-0, senior Paul Colin began a turnaround with a win over Henry Jefferson. Wissam Abderrahman and Clement Lemire each secured victories, tying the score at three matches apiece. Senior Yassine Dlimi clinched the win by overcoming two match points and defeating Adhithya Ganesan in a final-set tiebreaker, sending UCF to its second consecutive NCAA Super Regional.
UCF enters this postseason after a record-setting regular season that included an appearance at the ITA Indoor National Championship, achieving a program-best No. 8 national ranking, and maintaining an undefeated home record at the USTA National Campus. The Knights finished with a 19-5 overall record, with all losses coming on the road against ranked opponents. At home, they recorded seven sweeps and went unbeaten against in-state teams while closing Big 12 play with a winning conference record.
For transfers Wissam Abderrahman and Clement Lemire, this season has been notable for their unblemished records on home courts—Abderrahman went 10-0 while Lemire finished 11-0 during both regular season and postseason matches.
Wake Forest enters as both one-seed and fourth-ranked nationally under Head Coach Tony Bresky. The Demon Deacons have compiled a 32-3 record this year following their recent win over Old Dominion that secured their third straight opportunity to host Super Regional play. Wake Forest currently holds an active home winning streak of 48 matches—the longest in college tennis—and is led by Dhakshineswar Suresh on court one.
