The University of Central Florida men’s basketball team announced on May 5 that Churchill Abass has joined its roster for the 2026-27 season, according to head coach Johnny Dawkins.
Abass, a senior standing at 6-foot-10, comes to the Knights after playing the previous season at New Orleans. There, he appeared in 33 games and started in 27 of them. He averaged 8.4 points per game and scored a total of 277 points while maintaining a field goal percentage of 63.1%.
Before his time at New Orleans, Abass played for DePaul and Wake Forest. At Wake Forest, he participated in 13 games with one start. While at DePaul, he played in 30 games with thirteen starts and averaged both 3.9 points and rebounds per game while shooting nearly fifty-eight percent from the floor. His notable performances included scoring a season-high thirteen points against Xavier and collecting nine rebounds each against Marquette and Xavier as well as eight against Villanova.
Abass is originally from Nigeria and was recognized as a four-star prospect out of NBA Academy Africa, ranked No. 81 overall in the On3 Class of 2023 rankings.
Dawkins said that adding Abass brings experience to the team’s lineup for next season.
