The University of Central Florida men’s tennis team defeated Oklahoma State University 4-0 on April 2 during its Senior Night celebration.
The win marked the Knights’ 14th consecutive home victory this season and improved their overall record to 18-4, including a 4-2 mark in Big 12 conference play. The event was moved indoors due to a rain delay, but the team maintained high energy throughout the match.
UCF began by winning the doubles point. Luca Hotze and Nicolas Oliveira secured court three with a score of 6-3. Wissam Abderrahman and Mehdi Benchakroun clinched the doubles point for UCF with a hard-fought win, finishing at 7-5 on court two.
In singles play, Abderrahman won his match against Nicolas Kobelt in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) on court two. Senior Paul Colin added another point for UCF with a decisive victory over Derek Pham (6-2, 6-1) on court four. Yassine Dlimi delivered the final singles win for UCF with a score of 6-2, 6-2 against Alessio Basile on court one.
When play was stopped after UCF clinched victory, Benchakroun led his unfinished match against Ian Bracks (6-0,5-0), while Clement Lemire also held an advantage in his unfinished contest (6-3, 4-4). Oliveira trailed Aaron Williams (4-6, 2-5) before play ended.
Looking ahead, UCF will conclude its regular season schedule with away matches against No.9 Arizona on April 9 and No.26 Arizona State on April 12.
