UCF athletics announced on May 6 that five of its sports teams achieved perfect multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores of 1,000, according to the latest data released by the National Collegiate Athletic Association. The announcement highlights UCF’s ongoing commitment to academic success among its student-athletes.
The APR measures graduation, retention, and eligibility to provide a comprehensive view of a program’s academic environment. The most recent release covers the four-year period from 2021-22 through 2024-25. Achieving high APR scores is considered an important indicator of both individual and team dedication to academics.
Volleyball earned a perfect multi-year score for the fifth consecutive year and for the tenth time in thirteen years. Women’s golf also posted a perfect score for the fifth straight year, while men’s golf reached this mark for four consecutive years. Women’s tennis recorded its third straight year with a perfect score—its eleventh in fourteen years—and men’s tennis notched its second overall perfect rating. These five teams were recognized with NCAA Public Recognition Awards for ranking in the top ten percent nationally within their sports.
Tara Helton, UCF’s Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics, said: “We’re extremely proud of the academic achievements our student-athletes continue to demonstrate, and this year’s APR scores speak volumes about their dedication and focus. Having five programs earn a perfect 1,000 APR is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the culture of excellence our student-athletes embrace every day. This success is made possible by the commitment of our Academic Services for Student-Athletes (ASSA) staff, our coaches, and the broader academic support team. We’re so appreciative of everyone who contributes to an environment where they can reach their full potential academically and athletically.”
Other UCF teams also showed strong results: rowing achieved its best-ever program score at 998; men’s basketball set a new high at 977; softball tied its record with 997; women’s soccer posted its highest mark in four years at 987; football scored above average among Football Bowl Subdivision schools with a mark of 981; women’s basketball exceeded average as well with a score of 990 compared to an average of 984.
Six UCF programs—including all five that earned perfect marks plus rowing—were either tied or held first place in their respective categories within the Big 12 Conference.
These outcomes reflect what UCF describes as an unwavering commitment to creating opportunities for student-athletes’ growth both on and off the field.
