The University of Central Florida women’s golf team announced on May 9 that it will compete in the NCAA Regional tournament in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from May 11 to May 13.
This marks the program’s 20th appearance at the NCAA Regionals and its highest seeding ever as the No. 3 seed. The Knights will face a field of eleven other teams and six individual competitors, including nationally ranked programs such as Southern California, Duke, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Northwestern, Kansas, Texas Tech, UNLV, Columbia, Quinnipiac and Oakland.
The regional event will be held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Designed by Alister MacKenzie in the late 1920s and opened in spring of 1931, it is recognized as one of only six MacKenzie-designed courses in the United States. The course measures 6,265 yards with a par of 71.
Under head coach Emily Marron this season, UCF achieved nine top-five finishes—the most under her tenure—and secured two tournament titles: one at the Illini Invitational during fall and another at the Lady Luck Invitational in spring. The lineup for regionals includes Mila Jurine, Pimpisa Sisutham, Molly Smith, One Kashima and Tiffany Tsai; Jamie Camero will serve as substitute.
The Knights are scheduled to tee off on Monday morning alongside Duke and Southern California. According to UCF Athletics’ official information page (www.ucfknights.com), UCF is a member of the Big 12 Conference with a mission to positively transform students’ lives through athletics.
