Funding recognizes excellence among nursing education programs

Seminole State College of Florida’s nursing education program has been awarded $2,151,163 from Gov. Ron DeSantis in recognition of the College’s high-performing nursing education program.  In all the Governor awarded $79 million statewide to public postsecondary nursing programs that have gone above and beyond to train Floridians. The funding provides matching funds for scholarship awards, faculty recruitment, equipment and additional educational supports.

The funding is being allocated through the Linking Industry to Nursing Education (LINE) and Prepping Institutions, Programs, Employers, and Learners through Incentives for Nursing Education (PIPELINE) programs, which are designed to mitigate Florida’s nursing shortage.

Seminole State is receiving $750,000 from LINE and $1,401,163 from PIPELINE.

“These awards will meet a critical need of our state by ensuring we continue to have high-quality nursing graduates and by creating new opportunities for Floridians interested in healthcare,” said  DeSantis. “I am grateful to the colleges and universities who have gone above and beyond to train the next generation of nurses in our state.”

“On behalf of everyone at Seminole State, I want to thank Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature for funding the LINE and PIPELINE programs,” said Seminole State President Dr. Georgia L. Lorenz. “The programs will help us continue our mission to produce highly skilled nurses which will help ease the nursing shortage in Florida.”

Seminole State offers both an Associate in Science (A.S.), Nursing (RN) degree and an RN-to-BSN Online program (Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing) which answers the health care industry’s call for nurses with advanced training and provides graduates with high-growth, high-paying jobs.
