Ms. Ingrid Collins, AARP’s Associate State Director for Community Engagement in Central Florida, attended the March 20, 2023, City Commission meeting to present a plaque to the City for reaching a monumental milestone in their community efforts to improve services to their older adult population.

The City of Longwood is a member in good standing of the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, has successfully completed a cycle of improvement, and is recognized for its age-friendly leadership, achievements, and continuing commitment toward a livable community for people of all ages. Longwood is one of 45 age-friendly communities in Florida and more than 700 nationwide. The RuOK Program was recognized as one of the notable accomplishments which serve vulnerable older adults and demonstrates the importance of age-friendliness within Longwood.

Thank you to the Community Development Department, and a special thank you to Chris Kintner, Community Development Director, and Corporal Kim Feld for your leadership in this process.
