Washington, D.C.— Congressman Cory Mills (FL-07) released the following statement after the MAHSA Act passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee:
“I’m pleased my amendment to the MAHSA Act, along with the bill itself, passed the House Foreign Affairs Committee during the markup process last week.
“As someone who was targeted by the Iranian regime in Iraq in 2006, holding the terrorist Iranian regime accountable is personal to me.
“This regime is responsible for brutally murdering countless men, women, and children, and supporting heinous acts of violence around the world.
“It is unconscionable to me that those responsible for these activities would be able to continue accessing financial aid and economic lifelines by the U.S.
“My amendment to this legislation clarified the bill’s intent and resolved constitutional concerns.
“As a proud cosponsor of the MAHSA Act, I will work with my colleagues on the House Foreign Affairs Committee to ensure this important legislation does not get diluted before it reaches the House floor.”
