Reps. Cory Mills (FL-07), Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), and Byron Donalds (FL-19) have introduced a resolution condemning the Biden Administration for failing to fulfill its duty to American citizens left stranded in Israel. The resolution comes in response to the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas, which resulted in canceled flights and limited options for Americans trying to evacuate.
The lawmakers expressed their disappointment in the administration's response, particularly in comparison to other countries. Rep. Mills criticized the administration for prioritizing resources for illegal immigrants while neglecting the safety of American citizens abroad. He stated, "While the Biden Administration is quick to use taxpayer dollars to provide free housing to illegal immigrants entering the United States, they show time and time again they do not care about the wellbeing of American citizens stranded abroad during times of violent conflict he helped create through bad foreign policy."
Rep. Mills also highlighted his personal efforts to assist in the evacuation of stranded Americans in Israel. He traveled to Israel himself to ensure the safety of American citizens, emphasizing the importance of taking action when the administration fails to do so. He said, "Since Joe Biden refused to do the job he was elected to do, I traveled to Israel and did it for him... I’m honored to have been able to help evacuate over 100 Americans so far who were stranded in Israel during the ongoing war."
Rep. Malliotakis echoed the concerns raised by Rep. Mills, emphasizing the administration's delayed response in implementing a plan to evacuate American citizens. She pointed out that other countries, such as Poland, Germany, Mexico, Australia, and Canada, were able to conduct evacuations within hours, while American citizens were left without answers from the State Department. She expressed gratitude for Rep. Mills' efforts and bravery in stepping up to help stranded Americans.
Rep. Donalds also voiced his support for the resolution and condemned Hamas for its attack on Israel. He highlighted the importance of standing with Israel, one of the United States' greatest allies in the region. He praised Rep. Mills for his leadership in bringing Americans home and called for relentless condemnation of Hamas.
The resolution introduced by Reps. Mills, Malliotakis, and Donalds aims to hold the Biden Administration accountable for its failure to ensure the safety of American citizens in Israel. It calls for a comprehensive response to the ongoing conflict and emphasizes the need to support Israel in the face of Hamas' attacks.
This resolution serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting American citizens abroad and holding the government accountable for fulfilling its responsibilities. As the conflict in Israel continues, it is crucial to prioritize the safety and well-being of American citizens and provide them with the necessary support to return home safely.
