Ocoee Remembrance Events and Unity Family Festival to be held on November 4 - 6

In recognition of the 102nd Anniversary of the 1920 Ocoee Election Day Massacre, the city will hold Ocoee Remembers 2022 events on November 4 – 6. The public is invited to attend.

Ocoee Remembers 2022 is a weekend dedicated to unity in our community by remembering, educating, healing, uniting and honoring the lives lost during the 1920 Ocoee Election Day Massacre. A weekend of events will be held on November 4 through November 6. The signature event is a Unity Family Festival taking place on Saturday, November 5 from noon – 5 p.m. at Bill Breeze Park, 125 North Lakeshore Drive. Bring the family, friends and lawn chairs for a day of remembrance and celebration of life. Enjoy live music, inspirational speakers, food trucks, a kids zone, small businesses, community vendors and much more.

Before the festival begins, the Orlando and Tampa Chapters of the Buffalo Soldiers will host the second annual Julius "July" Perry Memorial Highway Honor Ride. The motorcycle club will start the ride at the Oakland Avenue Charter School, 456 Oakland Avenue (Town of Oakland) at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 5. The ride will end at approximately 11:30 a.m. at Bill Breeze Park. Other motorcycle clubs and riders are invited to join the honor ride. Interested motorcyclists can register on-site starting at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the event or pre-register online at OcoeeRemembers.org. Immediately following the honor ride, the Unity Family Festival will begin.

On Sunday, November 6 at 11 a.m., an Ocoee Remembers worship service will be held at HighPoint Church, 476 Ocoee Commerce Parkway.  Later in the evening, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., the church will host an inspirational program and candlelight walk to honor the Ocoee Massacre victims and descendants. The program and walk will take place at the Ocoee Lakeshore Center and Bill Breeze Park.
