Sanford, FL. — On Saturday April 29, Congressman and Army Combat Veteran Cory Mills hosted Military Academy Day in Sanford, Florida, to nominate candidates for appointment to U.S. service academies. Students from high schools in Florida’s Seventh Congressional District and their parents attended the event at Seminole State College.
“It was an honor to host Armed Forces Academy Day to provide our young men and women information on Military Academies. Over 250 Floridians showed up to meet cadets and learn about service to our nation. I was pleased to be able to talk about my service as a former Army Combat Veteran and Bronze Star recipient,” said Rep. Mills. “One of the greatest honors of my life was being able to serve my country, and I hope my story inspired young Floridians to do the same.”
Senator Rick Scott said, “It was so great to see so many young Floridians come out to our Military Service Academy Day and express an interest in serving our great country. As a Navy veteran myself, it’s a true honor to support young Floridians eager to attend our service academies. I encourage any young men and women interested to read more and apply on our website at www.rickscott.senate.gov/services/academy-nominations.”
