WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Cory Mills (FL-07) has introduced the Against Federal Funds for Allowing Inappropriate Relationships Act (AFFAIR) to address concerns regarding corruption and unlawful activities within state and local chief prosecutor offices. The legislation aims to prohibit the allocation of federal funds to offices that employ individuals convicted of engaging in such activities.
Recent news reports have brought to light an alleged affair and improper sexual relationship between District Attorney Willis and Special Prosecutor Wade. If proven true, this relationship raises serious concerns about the integrity of their professional conduct. It also opens the door to potential violations of bias, conflicts of interest, and even kickbacks. The AFFAIR Act seeks to prevent individuals involved in corruption or unlawful activities from misusing federal funds.
In a statement, Rep. Mills emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "Not only was Fani Willis' relationship with Nathan Wade extremely inappropriate and creates concerns around a conflict of interest, but it also potentially shows violations of bias against political opposition, and lawfare for election interference." He further stressed the importance of safeguarding taxpayer dollars and upholding the principles of justice and fairness in our constitutional republic.
The AFFAIR Act aims to ensure that federal funds are not misappropriated or weaponized due to unlawful and unethical activities. Rep. Mills' bill underscores the fundamental values of liberty, justice, and the fair and equal application of the law that our nation was founded upon.
